Why We Drive Across Central Ohio For In-Person Property Consultations

Making The Miles Count

WHY FACE-TO-FACE MEETINGS MATTER IN EXCAVATION

Some days start with dead batteries in the work truck. But that won't stop us from making our way from Lancaster to Columbus to Powell for site visits.

Why? Because meeting face-to-face with our customers isn't just a nice extra - it's how we make sure every project starts off right.

You might wonder why we put so much effort into covering such a wide area of Central Ohio.

The answer is simple: nothing beats being able to walk your property together, shake hands, and really understand what you need.

A phone call might be convenient, but it can't show us the full picture of your project.

The Power of In-Person Meetings

When you're dealing with excavation work, pictures and phone calls only tell part of the story. Standing on your property together, we can point out exactly what needs attention. Maybe there's a drainage issue that's easier to explain when we can see how water flows across your land. Or perhaps there's an access challenge that becomes obvious once we walk the site together.

These face-to-face meetings prevent the kind of miscommunication that can cause headaches down the road. When we're on site with you, we can answer questions right away, spot potential challenges before they become problems, and make sure we're all on the same page about what needs to be done.

Think about it this way: would you rather try to explain a complex problem over the phone, or be able to point and say "right there, that's what I'm talking about"? That's why we'll drive across three cities in one day if that's what it takes to meet with our customers in person.

Going the Extra Mile (Literally)

Let me tell you about a typical day for us - like today, where we're covering ground from Lancaster to Columbus to Powell. That's a lot of driving, but it's worth every mile. Why? Because each stop means we get to meet someone face-to-face and really understand their project needs.

We set up our schedule to be flexible because we know not everyone can meet during standard business hours. Sometimes that means we're zigzagging across Central Ohio, fitting in meetings at 11 AM, 3 PM, and 5 PM. But that's just part of doing business the right way. If you need us to look at your property, we'll find a time that works for you.

What to Expect from Our Site Visits

When we show up at your property, the first thing we'll do is shake your hand and introduce ourselves. This isn't just being polite - it's about starting our relationship off right. We want you to know exactly who you're working with and feel comfortable asking any questions you might have.

During our visit, we'll walk your property together. This is where the real value comes in. You can show us exactly what's concerning you, whether it's a drainage issue, grading problem, or any other excavation need. We might notice things you hadn't considered, or you might point out details we need to know about. Either way, being there in person means we can develop a complete understanding of what needs to be done.

Sometimes customers tell us they were nervous about having an excavator come look at their property. But by the end of our visit, they're usually surprised by how much clearer everything feels. That's because we take the time to explain things in plain language and make sure you understand every part of our recommended solution.

Overcoming Challenges

Some days don't start exactly as planned. Like this morning - our work truck needed two new batteries. But here's something we've learned over years in this business: it's not about what goes wrong, it's about how you handle it. Me and Finn didn't let dead batteries stop us from keeping our commitments.

That's actually a pretty good example of why we take our business approach so seriously. Just like we won't let a truck problem keep us from meeting with customers, we won't let distance or scheduling challenges get in the way either. When you're dealing with property issues, you need someone reliable - someone who shows up when they say they will, no matter what.

Closing

At the end of the day, driving across Central Ohio for in-person consultations isn't just about being nice. It's about doing the job right from the very beginning. When we meet face-to-face, walk your property together, and really understand what you need, it sets every project up for success.

Need to schedule a site visit? We pride ourselves on being flexible with meeting times and locations. Because at Double B, we believe every great project starts with a handshake and a walk around your property.

Sometimes the straightforward jobs turn out to be anything but. That's exactly what we found when we started working on a barn upgrade in Brownsville. What began as a basic drainage project quickly evolved into something more complex - and more important - when we discovered existing electric lines and drainage systems

You might not notice it at first glance, but that slight bump running down the middle of your gravel driveway could spell trouble when winter hits. We call this a "crown," and while it might seem like a minor issue now, it's exactly the kind of problem that can turn into a real headache once snow starts flying.

When you're finishing up a property, timing isn't just important - it's everything. That's exactly what we're dealing with today in New Albany, where we're putting the final touches on a project that requires both precision and patience. Fresh concrete, Harley rake work, and hydroseed application all need to come toget
