That depth specification matters for several reasons: code requirements, protection from weather and ground movement, and long-term stability.
Think about it this way: too shallow, and you're risking exposure or damage. Too deep, and you're making future access unnecessarily difficult. At 24 inches, we're hitting that sweet spot where the line will be properly protected but still accessible if needed. But before we can even think about that, we've got to deal with the culvert situation.
There's already a concrete culvert in place, but it needs extending. This is exactly why we're going out today to take measurements - when you're dealing with this kind of volume, you can't afford any surprises. Getting exact measurements today means we can have the right culvert extension ready first thing tomorrow morning. That's the difference between a smooth operation and having a dozen trucks waiting while you figure things out.
